We tried Werkstatt tonight and while we were not blown away by the food or service, it is a solid Austrian restaurant. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere quite relaxed. We never felt rushed but did feel it would have been nice if we did not have to flag down a server to refill our water or for the check. We ordered potato latkes that came with sour cream and apple sauce (Happy Hanukkah!). They tasted as latkes should taste. We then both had chicken cutlets which were tender but a bit bland. We don't eat Austrian food often so perhaps that is how they are supposed to be seasoned. The cranberry sauce and potato salad that came with the cutlets were delicious. Next visit I plan to try their famous pretzel and either the bratwurst or the Käsekrainer-Bratwurst burger.

The food, service, and ambiance are always great. Had a very enjoyable meal here with two friends in their back room, which is big enough to host a party 20 or so, but it's cozy with its high ceiling, big skylight and decor. The staff were exactly what you'd want. Knowledgeable, friendly, but not too friendly, attentive but not too attentive, you get the idea. Relax, take your time enjoy a great meal. It's a neighborhood favorite that I really should go to more often.

I have never had Austrian food before but we visited Hungary earlier this year and fell in love with the food there. We got so excited when we saw they have goulash and paprika chicken here. We got the braised beef goulash and the calamari and kielbasa. The Austrian goulash is a bit different than the Hungarian ones I've had in the past. It's thicker and even feels more like a sauce stew than a soup. We wanted to savor every drop of the sauce and it pairs so well with the spatzle. The beef was so tender and juicy and the spice captivating. I am a sucker for calamari but I surprisingly liked the kielbasa better than the calamari within the appetizer dish. Our first visit was a take out order and it was packaged nicely. The inside is very cozy and a pub-like atmosphere. I highly recommend giving this place a try! Can't wait to come back again and try their chicken paprika and other dishes as well. They do have a preference for cash payment.

The food and service here were wonderful. The missing star is for the server not warning our group that the Mushroom Appetizers are BOILING HOT INSIDE. You will not feel the heat from picking it up or using your fork to pick it up. I'm on my 5th day of not being able to use the right side of my mouth, the burns are so severe. If you do order this appetizer, cut the Mushrooms open in your plate and let that steam escape and the boiling liquid drain out before attempting to eat it. I wish the server had warned us. The rest of the meal was delicious.

The bratwurst burger and spatzle were incredibly savory and delicious. The place was staffed with attentive and knowledgeable servers. I also loved the wooden lodge-style decor. If you're in Flatbush, head to Werkstatt!

We love coming to this place in Brooklyn. The food is great! Do try their sausages which come with different salads such as a cucumber salad, and potato salad. Try also their grapefruit beer! I recommend to sit outside during the Spring, and Summer times.

This place is great! In my experience, it's hard to make Austrian food both exciting and affordable. Werkstatt's vibe is really welcoming and fun, with an entire motorcycle hooked on the wall. The staff is friendly, and the food is excellent. We'll be back to try more dishes, but the mussels were absolutely perfectly flavored. I had a Sacher Torte, which was a bit on the drier side, but usually, this kind of cake isn't super moist but more on the compact side. I did get to try the Farmer's cheese strudel of my other party, and that one was served in vanilla sauce, which is also a traditional way to eat it, and that dessert was just the bomb, I'll get it next time! I highly recommend it. As someone who has tried a lot of Austrian food in Austria, this place is perfect when you hit a bit of nostalgia.

Like modem Austrian cuisine? Welcome to Werkstatt in Kensington Brooklyn, NY. Had the mulled wine and the Werkstatt burger. They got the temperature right at medium, pretzel bun onion, marmalade hand cut fries, and salad with very flavorful dressing and a grilled tomato. Indoor and outdoor dining. Indoors today with a gorgeous skylight and chandelier made out of wine bottles. Bring cash or Amex. Street parking available. Not far from Subway or Bus. Friends had the pretzel and beer in large steins. They said the burger was the "wurst." The service was excellent. https://www.werkstattbrooklyn.com/

The service was amazing and the food was amazing! I always thought German food was just bratwurst and schnitzel but there is much more than that! Pickled cucumbers and cabbage, plus potato salad! And Schofferhofer on tap which tastes way better than the canned stuff! They even make Christmas cookies!!! We came for brunch and ended up staying for dinner! I highly recommend this authentic German restaurant!
